Keeping Hospitals Respectable

On a recent visit to a Changhua hospital for a presentation, I came across this guy with a sheet wrapped around his waist.  Thinking it odd, I made a closer inspection and came across what I suppose must be the reason for the placement of the cloth - the statute had been carved replete with a full set of lifelike and proportional organs.  Clearly, that was attention to detail taken a step too far for hospital administrators!.

  2. Yes ... that extra (upside down) foot is rather puzzling! Anyone know why they put that there?

  3. I think this is a typical statue demonstrating all the acupuncture points (the dots) and how they are connected (the lines) on a human body. The sole of a foot is no escaping either. I'd assume this is a traditional medicine hospital that you visited?

  4. Hi hans, actually it was in the dental department of the Hospital and the rest of the building seemed quite new. I agree that it probably is an acupuncture dummy ...
